The last epiphany I had was when I decided to create this blog, and it was nothing, I mean NOTHING compared to the earth-shaking revelation I experienced in a movie theater just a few short minutes ago.  As a man of few means, I normally catch movies right at the tail end when they are about to leave the theater (when hopefully tickets are reduced) and hence I saw the movie “Kickass.” And I was blown away.

First, all I can say is thank you.  I haven’t felt like that in a movie theater since before I can remember. 

What follows are just a few random statements that come to mind, kept short to prevent rambling.

-The movie is the best thought experiment addressing the plausibility of super heroes.

-The movie is funnier than Super Bad and Wedding Crashers combined.

-The movie has better choreography than the Transporter and Romeo Must Die.

-The movie is an unapologetic look at the Hero’s Journey.

-The movie is an expert on its audience.

-The movie uses effects better than the Matrix.

-The movie is more tragic than Romeo and Juliet.

-The movie is completely unpredictable from the first scene to the last.

-This movie integrates real comic book art better than Sin City, Kill Bill or anything put out by Marvel or DC.

-This movie can, should and could serve as an all encompassing text on the following: western philosophy, the comic book genre and the nature of man himself.

-This movie is a brilliant coming of age story.

-The movie is a perfect parody of itself, of superhero movies generally and cannot be parodied by any movie other than itself.

-This movie is the best reason to have movies.

-This movie is the ONLY reason to continue having movies since they are making a movie based on the comic strip “Marmaduke.”

Marmaduke.  Lord help us all.  Anyway, thank you for reading the first edition of “Thank You Note” not to be confused with other writers who occasionally thank a fellow blogger warrior like Elie Mystal or idiots who worship car brands (though I think in a rare moment of censorship I removed Triforce’s ode to BMW).  Running the blog has to have some perks.  I do the shticks we repeat.

Now to swipe my mom’s credit card out of her purse and order myself some Kickass merchandise.  I need a t-shirt that says “Show’s Over Motherfuckers.”

*sigh* I am not a tech person. Without the help of good friends I never would have gotten this blog off the ground. For those of you in Debtor’s Prison your only way out might be promoting yourself through social media. If you’re anything like me you might be embarassed that a magnet high school plus a 200k education leaves you without the basic tools to access the world’s most powerful resource.

Please read on as I state what I have learned so far and apologize to those who have been inconvenienced or annoyed by my learning curve.

First, a web designer is your friend. That I think is self explanatory. If you’re over 20 and have never created a website chances are your efforts would be better spent at ground zero rather than learning the intricacies of web design.

Second with respect to links, other sites are informed if you link to them. Therefore if you write them a lame letter asking for permission to link to their site and if they would do you the honor of cross-linking…you sound at best stupid, at worst a sarcastic asshole . That’s no way to build networks.

The third has to do with facebook. Originally I had no facebook page. This is not because I don’t own a laptop or a 3G phone. Yes I blog from a desktop in my mothers basement and yes she looks over my shoulder but the fact of the matter is…what would I say? My life is one humiliation after another and I barely do enough to fill out a tweet once a week. I live with my mom. So I start a facebook page with my name but to promote the site. I start a group to promote the site. However what apparently I was supposed to do was start a fan page and somehow that’s the difference between promotion and spam.

So obviously I have alot of work to do. I hope the rest of you can learn from my experiences. Yes you can still facebook friend my personal page and yes I will try and make my tweets more frequently and more interesting. Social media is the mini chisel hidden in the bible that Red slips into our sell each night. If we plan on escaping we have to pick the right spot to start tunneling.
