How the Revolution Ends: This is the Future 0

Posted on December 28, 2011 by Benito Mario

It takes a lot to get one of us to write these days.  Alpha Man promised me a simple explanation of the crux of the Occupy Movement’s issues and he has yet to deliver.  Me, I am content for the time being just to be part of something.  Looking for an answer beats looking for a job. Probably because unlike a job, I know the truth exists.

However I had to tell you guys about this: M.I.T. is providing free, online education that now comes with a certified credential that exhibits mastery of the material. I am including the link below

More Problems and Delays 0

Posted on July 05, 2011 by Benito Mario

So mid-way through recreating the lost posts when my phone died for whatever reason I discovered KF Li and Icarus’ icons no longer show up for whatever reason.  Since we’ve had this weird glitch we’ve had Casey Anthony, a Skadden Associate die of a heart attack and a whole slew of other crap.

Please check out the political page as Simon’s Girlfriend has an interesting take on the Healthcare debate.

As always I remind you to go back and read some of our legacy posts.  Most are about the ongoing phenomenon of being a student debtor, not say, a specific event.

Also check out the media section. More stories and movies to follow, I promise!

Post Drought… 0

Posted on June 21, 2011 by Benito Mario

So we are NOT taking a break for the summer as a number of people have inquired.  What we have had is a technical malfunction uploading posts.  My mistake, but here at Debtor’s Prison we really are in debt and you can’t go replacing your phone just because you fell into a kiddie pool while running from a dog that the owner released after asking “why would a 30 year-old man offer to paint my mailbox?”

Sigh.

Anyway, we’ll do our best to recreate the lost posts.  Back up your stuff people.  Back up Back up Back up Back up!

Kudos to Law and the Multiverse 0

Posted on December 24, 2010 by Benito Mario

I don’t get to apply my legal skills that much anymore.  Occasionally I get a call from a buddy facing another DUI or someone asks me to look at a contract concerning a creative endeavor, but my number one use of my law degree is still replying “actually, yes” when some smart ass on facebook goes “what, are you a lawyer?” in response to a comment I made.  That number one spot is in danger.  Now i have “Law and the Multiverse” to read.  You can find a link to the blog under the blog roll.

Essentially Law and the Multiverse deals with Superheroes and how the law might affect them in their daily lives.  It is a law blog first and foremost and a super hero blog second.  Someone who knows law but not comic books will get more out of it than someone who knows comic books but has no idea about the law.

The blog is causing quite a stir and I encourage all you to check it out.

So You Want to Go to Law School: The Series! 1

Posted on November 14, 2010 by Benito Mario

As you probably noticed with the sporadic posts I’ve had a number of breakdowns of a mental nature over the past two weeks.  One of the many straws upon this poor camel’s back is the fact that KF Li is actually doing pretty well considering he hasn’t earned a single grade or repaid a single dollar of his loans and that leads to no small amount of “I told you so”s.  ANYWAY a pioneer named David Kazzie has been good enough to animate one poor sap’s journey through law school.  I have watched the first two episodes and in my humble opinion it is dead on accurate.  I am putting a link to his site in this post below and you can find the link with the others in the coming days.

While I am on the subject, if you read KF Li’s posts you can’t help but realize that his approach to law school is the product of the fact that in-fighting aside, he really has listened to alot of what all of us on this blog have had to say.  In fact, he initially started as a sub-in for Mike Triforce because he noticed KF Li was a sponge for everything he said.  The biggest joke in “So You Want to Go to Law School” is that the protagonist is obviously not listening to anything she is being told.  It’s popularity comes not from it’s teaching utility but from it’s entertainment value in the niche audience of people who have already been duped by the system.

Debtor’s Prison: Fall Schedule 0

Posted on September 07, 2010 by Benito Mario

Hi Kids. So here we are poised for another year of fruitless job hunts, endless expensive schooling complete with another cycle of loans and just to make the taste of failure complete I thought I’d add a few failed start-up businesses. I’m already told that YMCA also known as Mama’s Boy for Hire has already been mistaken for an illegal prostitution ring catering to older women. So sad. Anyway, here is what you can expect from us this fall and beyond.

Familiar favorites such as “Post of the Week” and “Pay My Student Loans” will be making a return.  In addition a bi-weekly “So, New to Debtor’s Prison?” will
Provide summary info. To people who are checking us out for the first time.

Administratively you may have noticed some bottlenecks aka a few days with no posts and then four or five show-up.  We are trying to monitor our posts a bit more closely due to past incidents (ahem Triforce) and that pertains to comments too so bare with us ye few yet faithful.

So anyway thanks for reading these past seven months or so and please stick with us as we march on to 100,000 hits and hopefully a one year anniversary!

This is it in a nutshell.  I’ll see if I can get the gang to weigh in…

Summer Announcements 0

Posted on May 31, 2010 by Benito Mario

Hi Kids. It’s Our First Summer here at Debtor’s Prison.  Our research shows that due to school being out and people being In front of their computers less traffic will become more sporadic SO we are instituting a few changes effective immediately through Labor Day

- No more weekly announcements. We will continue to post at about the same frequency but schedules make knowing posts a week in advance difficult.
- No more Posts of the Week, same reason. This goes for the sort of weekly posts such as PAY MY STUDENT LOANS as well. Not saying we aren’t doing them, just saying we don’t know how often.
- Still planning to do the guest column with an aspiring writer.
- We are actively seeking new readers and will write directly about how to spread the word and why it’s important to do so.
