I can’t believe I forgot to title this…

Well not according to our own personal hit count, but possibly given the amount of attention the subject of “scam blogging” is getting in fact ATL’s own David Lat has just written a post called ” In Defense of Going to Law School ” perhaps he realized that if people really did heed his advice then eventually the website he started would be useless… Bit it’s all good he had a good ride and besides he’s debt free. Though I am not bitter because I’ve gotten laid during the current administration and didn’t just get blamed for killing my mom’s flowers who I don’t live with during the heat wave… OH WAIT.

I guess I should post the link for those of you who stumbled upon this page and have no idea what I am talking about…

I am not a fan of David Lat. Mostly because he’s not cute, righteous or funny but that’s why he hired Elie and Kash. Alpha Man hates him for his post about why it’s not absurd to consider the possibility that certain races are on average more intellectually gifted than others. But Alpha Man also hates Mel Gibson now and I’ll watch Lethal Weapon, the Patriot and Braveheart all in the same day.

What is undeniable is that David Lat’s influence given his ATL podium is large to say the least and his genius is the reason we have ATL to read amongst countless other blogs.  That’s not praise it’s just the truth.

So let’s look at Lat’s defense. He basically says it’s a lottery ticket, it’s not so bad if you get money, it’s something to do and you just might get a little respect. Sadly, the argument is level-headed and contains no outrageous basis.

This is sad because when a movement is REALLY making progress it’s opponents begin to get desperate and scared and make claims  that border on the absurd. Remember when Republicans were scared of the possibility of a black President so they gave you Joe the Plumber and Caribou Barbi when they could have given you the hero of 9/11 and a popular actor? What, Republicans are tired of actors after Reagan and Schwarzenegger?

So – yes we’ve been noticed. We’re not talking to ourselves. But that’s all we’ve been. We are not taken seriously. We won’t be taken seriously until someone’s bottom line is actually affected, and tuition rates and applications to elite college and graduate schools has never been higher.  But is that what we want? Simply to lower application rates and therefore tuition? No. Then education simply goes back into the realm of the wealthy only. Do we want to simply bring tuition down? Well no, it depends on what is cut to make that happen.

It’s possible that the higher education system is simply past broken. I’d tell a young person today to join the army if it wasn’t for the dying. I think President Kennedy had the right idea with the Peace Corps. Imagine if they had the numbers and the resources of our military.

I don’t think that this guy could have possibly been serious about this post…

These “defenses” of going to law school are really pathetic. There are some folks who, for them, going to law school now is not a terrible decision. However, it isn’t anyone who has to rely on one of the reasons provided in that article.

Dear genius: Joe the Plumber was random guy who, unlike every other actual reporter, asked Obama an unscripted question when Obama was temporarily untethered from his life support teleprompter. And what did Obama do? Well, he admitted he felt like he needed to redistribute the nation’s wealth to people who hadn’t earned it.

The Republicans didn’t “give” us this, Obama did. (by the by, Obama is also only half-black ethnically, and because his father was a native African he has no cultural connection to the African-American civil rights & slavery historical perspective besides the SLAVE OWNING white people on his mother’s side. Look it up).

Not sure why I bothered posting, just figured if you’re going to devolve this place into an ATL mirror site you might at least keep your facts straight.

I can’t believe I forgot to title this post. Perhaps I had an “Elie Moment” Ha! Thanks for posting and comparing us to ATL. Please stop by again!

  4. Growlly Bears says:

ISeeDebtPeople are you a fucking moron? Joe the Plumber was an asshole who asked a stupid question that didn’t even apply to him because he didn’t have his own business and wasn’t even a licensed plumber! Ninety-five percent of people got a tax cut under Obama, just like he told “Joe the Plumber” he would.

Of course Joe the Plumber was given to us by Republicans! They were the ones who started parading his dumbass around after that brief news clip. And isn’t that sad? Isn’t it sad that that bald, lying redneck was the best the Republicans could come up with?

And then you’re telling Benito to look up shit when your dumbass doesn’t even know that WHITE PEOPLE DECIDED that if you have any amount of African blood, hey, you’re black! Plessy v. Ferguson 1896. Why don’t YOU look THAT SHIT up?! Ever notice how African-Americans are three shades lighter than their African counterparts? How do you think that happened? If having slave owning ancestors disqualified you from being black in this country, nobody would be. Idiot.

Furthermore, Obama is black because he is discriminated against by the white power structure. I mean he’s the PRESIDENT and he still can’t say cops acted stupidly when they CLEARLY did, and DO every single day? And look at this Tea Party shit.

Thanks for a great post Benito.

  5. Obama is a multi-millionaire who was raised in Hawaii, attended Harvard Law School, and is now President of the United States. And you’re still trying to pitch him as some sort of discrimination victim? That is pathetic. I wish I were as horribly discriminated against as President Obama, although it would be a real challenge to survive rattling around in those giant mansions and eating whatever the executive chefs sent up in the dumbwaiter.

And if Joe the Plumber was such an idiotic Republican plant, how did Obama fall for it? Last I heard, Obama was a transcendent genius with an IQ of eleventy billion who actually has the power to control sea levels, and some random plumber walks up to him and Obama just blurts out he’s going to take the guy’s money and give it to someone else? Hate these imaginary Republican boogie men all you want, but that snafu is all on Obama’s shoulders. Of course, what’s really surprising is how amazingly competent Obama has been since that time. Really strange of the Republicans to highlight that one error since all it does is show how Obama is great at everything else. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to hemliching tar balls out of endangered seals while watching Air Force One buzz NYC.

  6. Growlly Bears says:

Once again I must ask you, are you a fucking moron? Obama is a multi-millionare, HLS grad and now POTUS IN SPITE of discrimination. I mean, sometimes the better team wins even if the refs are cheating. I love your argument “Someone is successful, therefore there must not have been obstacles to that success.” See and here’s why you hate Obama, because he was successful in spite of discrimination whereas you are failure despite every advantage.

And once again, Obama didn’t fall for anything. Joe the Plumber tried to trap him, Obama got out of it, then Fox News edited the exchange to make it seem like Obama was advocating an across the board tax increase instead of the cuts 95% of Americans received. In fact, nobody fell for it, that’s why Obama is President.

Obama’s record speaks for itself Stimulus (win) Healthcare (win) Financial Reform (win) and soon to be followed by Energy and Immigration. You can thank Cheney for that BP disaster…
